tr_unicamp3Anthony Rapoport is principal violist of Sinfonia Toronto, violist of the Windermere String Quartet, and was a founding member the Aradia Ensemble.

With Sinfonia Toronto, he has appeared as soloist, toured Germany, Spain, China and South America, and recorded four CDs. With the Windermere String Quartet, on period instruments, he has performed over 100 classical works, including the complete Beethoven Quartets, premiered ten new works, recorded two CDs, and appeared as artist-in-residence at festivals in Ontario and Quebec. With Aradia he toured New Zealand and recorded fourteen CDs.

He has been acclaimed as “a violist of distinction” (Berliner Tageszeitung) and “a splendid violist” (New Zealand Herald).

In 2014 he collaborated with choreographer Sid Ryan Eilers and Aeris Körper (then known as Form Contemporary Dance Theatre) to create the critically acclaimed Storm and Silence.

He is a Visiting Artist at Etobicoke School of the Arts.

Anthony received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Juilliard School in New York, where he studied viola with Lillian Fuchs, string quartet with Robert Mann, baroque style with Albert Fuller, and contemporary performance with Joel Sachs and Paul Zukovsky.
